Ravenna House
Designed for a young family in the Ravenna neighborhood, the home balances a modern layout with traditional charm to create a unique home on a narrow Seattle property. Large pocketing doors between the main living and rear yard help blur the line between exterior and interior spaces to help enlarge the feeling of the main floor. The detached garage helps define the private back courtyard and the home lends itself to hosting groups of friends and family.
Front Yard
The design utilized foundations from the existing home which were naturally raised up from the street. Retaining walls were added along the sidewalk to create an entry courtyard, summer garden, and evening hangout space.
Heart of the Home
The heart of the main floor is the kitchen, where the owners love to cook and host family and friends. A pantry space is located behind the kitchen to allow for a clean and open kitchen space. The kitchen and dining also celebrates and displays the owner’s personal style and design approach to the home.
Mud Room
A mud room is tucked behind the living spaces and has a separate entrance for the busy family and kid’s sports gear. The separate entrance also provides a covered space to hang sports bags, coats, and other gear for a quick exit after school.
Post & Package
A custom mailbox and box nook at the entrance provides a hidden area for deliveries while also providing a design opportunity to display the craftsmanship of the home’s builders.
